What Has AFLAC Done To My Culture?????

2011.12.14

What has AFLAC done to my culture??? Not since MC Hammer danced for chicken in a KFC advertisement have I felt my culture so disrespected through advertising.  Beat boxing frogs, a duck spinning lily pads like turntables, a worm doing the “worm” and a Flavor Flav esque pigeon.  Not to mention the ad that preceded it in which a duck and a pigeon have a break dance battle (which I tried to ignore).   Who exactly thought that this ad was a good idea for one or appealing?  And who exactly was this ad geared towards? Are There Too Many Rappers?

2011.06.22

My addiction to hip-hop leads me to scour blogs and hip-hop news sites for new material on a daily basis like many of you.  Every day just like you I come across new content (music, videos, interviews, trailers) from new names pretty much every hour on the hour.  To be completely honest 80%-90% of which is totally disposable in my humble opinion (no O’Riley).  This on going frustration has led me to ask the following question: Are there too many rappers? Deconstructing Joe Budden’s No Ordinary Love Freestyle

2011.01.17

Every since it dropped I been under the trance of “Joe’s Ordinary Love Pt. 1″ Freestyle.  Joe really dove deep into this Sade sample there is a lot of relationship talk and double talk in this one.  So I decided to deconstruct this freestyle and psychoanalyze the thought pattern behind this one.  Some shyt I may be dead on some shyt I could be completely off but hey its hip-hop so nobody’s ever 100% right…..**Post obviously inspired of my reading of a former Joe Budden competitor’s book that shall remain nameless**  Click after the jump for remaining lyrics and deconstructions

01 Ordinary Love Pt. 1

My path for tomorrow is relaxing at full throttle
Born to be a leader but a tough act to follow (1)
Bet on me at all costs in spite of my cash
So if I can’t afford the Waldorf, I can’t afford to fall off
Stories over greatness, no stopping my zone
I’m bumping Roman’s Revenge but I’m plotting my own
Like a prophecy in case niggas haven’t learned not to bother me
Before you send your shots, just check my return policy (2)
Could do without the leeches, shoes without the creases
Miami Heat hater but I do the South Beaches
For any drama I be calling up monsters
I aint Gilbert I never met a Wall I can’t conquer (3)
Ruger aimed if I’m who you try and belittle Read more…

Unofficial Official Hip Hop Artist: #7 Sade

2010.12.22

Her beats is bangin, her hooks did it, her lyrics hitting, her timeless look did it, there’s a certain feel to her music I hope yall get it.  She is an ageless goddess and Hip-Hop’s favorites mistress Ms. Sade Adu.  Sade delivers painfully savvy lyrics of heartbreak with a voice as smooth as Glenlivet and ginger ale.  Lyrically like many hip-hop artists Sade penned verses of her inner struggles and insecurities in songs such as “King of Sorrow”.
